Join Lisa Mayo, with the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau, as she shares her insights about cool things to do and see in the region.
Located in the heart of the Sierra Gold Country, Tuolumne County was etched forever as a Gold Rush enclave via Mark Twain’s newspaper reports. Twain lived in a cabin on the outskirts of Sonora, California and you can visit his restored domain today. There are still gold seekers in the hills, along with lots of historic sites and structures in the region dating from the 1849 Gold Rush era. Today, there’s also an incredible array of outdoor activities for the visitors, from hiking and biking to fishing and river rafting. More than 50 percent of Yosemite National Park is located within the bounds of Tuolumne County.
