Door County is the nation’s fourth largest producer of cherries. While visiting the Orchard Country Winery and Market in Fish Creek, Wisconsin there were numerous families weaving through the orchards, having a festive time hand-picking cherries. We took a walk through the orchards with the Lautenbach family who’ve been growing cherries and apples on their 100-acre farm since the 1950s. In the 1980s Bob Lautenbach branched out in to the world of wine making, using their cherries and carefully tended grapes. www.doorcounty.com
