Oahu resident, Jeff Dunster and his business partner had a vision—and they acted on it by creating the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative, a non-profit organization with a prime mission to save the earth’s precious resources, one tree at a time. Their prime target is the exotic Koa and Sandalwood tree. The brilliance of their reforestation program is that three quarters of all trees planted are designated as Legacy Trees and they will live on forever.

Dunster talks-story about the vision behind the reforestation Initiative’s roots and it’s future growth on the flanks of Mauna Kea on the Big Island and upcoming reforestation projects on Oahu. Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative was awarded the prestigious “Phoenix Award for Excellence in Sustainability and Conservation” by the Society of American Travel Writers. The post-script, Hawaiian Chant was performed by Native Hawaiian, Cultural Advisor, Clifford J. Nae’ole recorded live at the Sheraton Ka’anapali on the island of Maui. The Intro and outro music was recorded at the St. Regis Princeville, and Waimea Plantation Cottages on the island of Kauai.
